Starsand Island Characters: All 28 NPCs, Shops & Voice Cast

Starsand Island 1.0 ships with 28 named human islanders, and this page is the index for all of them: what each one does, where they live, whether they can be romanced after the August 18, 2026 full release, their birthday, and who voices them in English and Japanese. Character records (birthdays, heights, schedules) come from the Early Access data export and the official February 7, 2026 voice-cast reveal; the romance column follows the official 1.0 wording of “14 romanceable NPCs”. Where two sources disagree, the table says so instead of picking one.

If you only want gift lists, jump to the gifts guide; for hearts, dating and moving in, see the romance and marriage guide. Pets and adoptable animals have their own page: pets guide.

Romanceable NPCs (14 in 1.0, plus Youfang)

Each name links to that character’s own page with schedule notes and full Loved/Liked/Disliked/Hated lists. Birthday seasons follow the in-game calendar (Spring / Summer / Autumn / Winter).

That is 8 women (Solara, Zerine, Pastelle, Alex, Lunelle, Neona, Serena, Stella) and 6 men (Graminova, Delphin, Zephyria, Aurelis, Loren, Sylvain). Any player character, regardless of the gender chosen at creation, can pursue any of the 14.

Why Youfang is not romanceable in 1.0

During Early Access Youfang carried the same “Bond” tag as the other 14, could be gifted to five hearts and had a voiced five-heart scene, but he was the one Bond character who could never move in. Before launch, developer Daisy of Seed Sparkle Lab wrote on the official Discord (August 5, 2026) that romance interactions with Youfang are not available because of his established backstory, and the August 16 launch-countdown post counts “14 romanceable NPCs”. Player screenshots of the Discord messages are the only record of the statement; the Steam announcement is the citable source for the number. He still has a schedule, a birthday and a gift list, so treat him as a friendship character.

Delphin was once “Francis”

The official voice-cast announcement of February 7, 2026 describes the fishing mentor as “Francis: Your childhood bestie”, and some early media voice lists use the same name, while the in-game name, the official cast image and every later source say Delphin. If you see “Francis” in an older guide, it is the same character. “Dolphin” is a common misspelling in search, not a separate NPC.

Non-romanceable islanders (13) and data-file extras

These characters can be befriended and gifted (friendship raises their hearts and unlocks bulletin-board favours), but there is no dating or move-in option for any of them. Crossover guests got an explicit fix in patch 0.2.x that removed a cohabitation prompt wrongly shown at five hearts.

Two more names exist in the character data but rarely come up in player reports: Marlo, the fish-shop owner and angling master (birthday Winter 1), and Lucian, a wandering merchant who travels by RV (Spring 28) and has his own gift preferences in the data file. Felix (clinic doctor) and Raymond (salesman) appear as empty placeholder rows with no birthday, so they are not counted among the 28.

The five profession mentors

Five of the romanceable NPCs double as the island’s mentors, one per profession. They hand out profession quests (the biggest single affection gains in the game, up to 50 points) and the map has a Mentor tab that locates them directly.

FarmingGraminovaHappiness Seed Shop, Starsand Town
RanchingPastelleGreen Pasture Ranch, Green Meadow
FishingDelphinAquaBlue Outpost, Half-Moon Bay

Because mentor quests pay so well in affection, these five (plus Solara) are usually the first characters players max out, and they were also the only six with dating options during Early Access. Profession trials are covered in the trials guide.

Where everyone lives: the five regions

NPC homes and shops cluster into five named areas. Knowing the cluster saves a lot of walking when you are doing a gift round.

  • Starsand Town — the commercial heart: Community Center (Solara, Regis), Zerine’s General Store, Happiness Seed Shop (Graminova), Lex Woodworks (Alex, lower town), Aureleaf Kitchen (Aurelis), Ethereal Styles (Lunelle), G-Power Bike (Neona), Silvan Notes (Sylvain), Soluna Cafe Lodge (Charlene). The sugar-painting stall and the plaza where Stella performs are here too.
  • Maple Reed — the entertainment street: Chrono Arcade (Loren and Momo), Bloom Atelier (Serena), Woof & Wow Pets (Stella).
  • Green Meadow — the ranch side: Green Pasture Ranch (Pastelle, Garrick, Bruce) and the Exploration Club (Zephyria).
  • Half-Moon Bay — the waterfront: AquaBlue Outpost (Delphin) and Starsand Port with Marston’s house.
  • Bastrom Heights — the northern temple district: Youfang’s home beside the temple, and Fang’s house at the foot of the western cliff.

Hattie’s, Sagewood’s and the crossover guests’ houses are listed in the data only by owner name, without a region, so they are left unplaced here rather than guessed. For the wider map (Moonlit Forest, Crane Cape, Cloudrest Lake) see the map and Moonlit Forest guide.

Birthdays by season

Gifts given on a birthday draw a special reaction, so a season-sorted list is handy. Days with a season conflict are flagged.

SeasonBirthdays
Spring3 Graminova, Charlene, Ginger*, Nia* · 10 Pastelle · 11 Bruce† · 14 Sylvain · 17 Zerine† · 20 Matilda · 28 Youfang, Lucian
Summer3 Delphin, Momo · 8 Sagewood · 11 Serena · 13 Alex, Aurelis, Neona · 16 Zephyria · 27 Regis · 29 Marston, Gust*
Autumn6 Loren · 16 Lunelle · 21 Hattie · 26 Solara
Winter1 Marlo · 6 Garrick · 18 Stella · 22 Fang

† Zerine and Bruce: the character data export puts both in Spring, the calendar page puts both in Summer. Sources disagree; the day numbers (17 and 11) match in both. * Crossover rows copy another NPC’s record in the export and should be treated as unconfirmed. Seasonal events that overlap birthdays are in the festivals guide.

Search-name check: Octa, Embersand, Aiko

Three names that show up in search suggestions are not human NPCs:

  • Octa is the adoptable fox (data ID Creature.Fox_01, female, birthday Winter 26). “Octa favorite food” refers to pet gift preferences — see the pets guide.
  • Embersand is an item (an ammunition-station / arrow component), not a character.
  • Aiko does not match any entry in the 63-row character export, the 28-NPC community gift guide or any other source checked as of August 23, 2026. The closest real name is Pastelle’s Japanese name Aoi. If an “Aiko” appears in the game later this page will be updated; for now treat it as a mis-remembered or cross-game name.

Other spellings you may meet: Zephria (Zephyria), Lauren (Loren), Dolphin (Delphin), Baili Ling (Zerine’s Chinese name as written in patch notes), A-Li (Alex’s Chinese name).

Voice acting

Affection storylines are fully voiced in English, Japanese and Chinese; the cast was revealed in the February 7, 2026 countdown post on Steam, and the English and Japanese names above are transcribed from the official cast image and the Japanese press release. One English actor doubles up (Maia Harlap voices both Zerine and Lunelle), and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka is credited for both Loren and Youfang in Japanese. The 13 non-romanceable islanders are not listed in the official cast reveal.

FAQ

How many characters are in Starsand Island?

28 named human NPCs with full records (14 romanceable + Youfang + 13 friendship-only, four of whom are My Time at Portia/Sandrock guests), plus a handful of data-only figures such as Marlo and Lucian, and about a dozen adoptable animals.

Who are the crossover characters?

Gust and Ginger from My Time at Portia, Nia and Fang from My Time at Sandrock. All four are friendship-only; a 0.2.x patch removed the cohabitation prompt that wrongly appeared for them at five hearts.

Can you see an NPC’s location and schedule in game?

Yes. The Social app on the phone lists every NPC with a Locate button, a Follow (pin) option and a Details tab showing exact affection points and gift history. The written route descriptions on each NPC page are taken from those Social profiles.

Which NPC is the easiest to befriend?

Player guides agree the five mentors and Solara climb fastest, because profession quests give up to 50 affection each on top of daily talks and gifts. See the romance guide for the point thresholds.
