Starsand Island Glowfish, Zander, Tuna & Bass Locations

This page answers the “where do I catch X” questions that the quest log creates — Glowfish for the Intermediate Angler trial, Tuna and Moorish Idol for Junior Angler, Giant Barb for the Senior trial, Zander and Bass because they are early, common requests. Each fish gets its own short entry (water, season, hours, weather, bait, price, what it is needed for), followed by a quick table grouped by water. All conditions below come from the game’s fish data (rarity, habitat, season, time, weather, bait, price), which already carries Version 1.0 strings; location tips come from Early Access player reports and are being re-checked for 1.0.

Glowfish (all variants) — Dreamfall Garden, Moonlit Forest

“Glowfish” is a family of four, all tied to lake water in Dreamfall Garden (the Moonlit Forest zone with the Crystalith boss). The spot players point to is the camp-side pool with the waterfall and bubble bridge — you can stand behind the waterfall — and some also report Glowfish shadows at the Darkwater Shore waterfall further in. Old guides naming “Spore Cascade” or “Spiritshade River” refer to places that do not exist in the release map.

• Quest use: the Intermediate Angler trial asks for “a Glowfish” — any of the three non-King variants works, and Pearl Glowfish is available every day of the year.
• King Glowfish is the autumn-midnight special; a Reddit player counted roughly 300 catches before it showed. Pond oxygen is 1 for Pearl, Fringetail and the King, 3 for Comet.

Zander — river, all year

• Water: River (main island). Rarity III.
• Season / hours / weather: all year, 6:00–24:00 plus 0:00–2:00, any weather.
• Bait: Bug, Veggie or Meat — it is not picky.
• Sell: 86g. Pond oxygen: 5, lays eggs.
• Why people search it: Zander is one of the most permissive river fish in the data (no season, no weather, any bait), so when a request or bulletin job asks for one, any river bank at almost any hour will do. The same is true of Giant Barb below.

Tuna — Luminwave, daytime, Meat Bait

• Water: Ocean, specifically Luminwave (north sea, via The Parrot ferry). Rarity II.
• Season / hours / weather: Spring, Summer, Autumn; 8:00–18:00; sunny or rainy.
• Bait: Meat Bait only (Fish Fillet 1 + Flour 1, or 45g at AquaBlue).
• Sell: 121g. Pond oxygen: 3.
• Quest use: the Junior Angler quest requires a Tuna and a Moorish Idol after reaching Luminwave. Craft Meat Bait before sailing — the quest text itself nudges you to.

Bass — Coral Sea, dawn and dusk

• Water: Ocean, Coral Sea (south-east sea). Rarity I.
• Season / hours / weather: all year, but only 6:00–8:00 and 18:00–20:00, any weather.
• Bait: Meat Bait.
• Sell: 103g. Pond oxygen: 3.
• Extra: the Merchant Ship has been seen buying Bass in bulk at 206g per lot of 20 — see the money-making guide.

Giant Barb — river, all year (Senior Angler trial egg)

• Water: River. Rarity IV.
• Season / hours / weather: all year, 6:00–24:00 plus 0:00–2:00, any weather.
• Bait: Bug, Veggie or Meat.
• Sell: 100g. Pond oxygen: 5, lays eggs.
• Quest use: the Senior Angler trial wants one Giant Barb egg, not the fish. Catch a Giant Barb (players report good luck in the river right by the farm late at night, and landing several in a row with a Noble Rod), put it in a fish pond, keep it fed with Fish Feed, and wait — one report took about ten in-game days for the first egg. Yellowtail Damselfish — open ocean, Spring/Summer

• Water: Ocean (no specific sea — any saltwater spot). Rarity II.
• Season / hours / weather: Spring, Summer; 8:00–20:00; sunny or rainy.
• Bait: Bug or Veggie Bait.
• Sell: 106g. Pond oxygen: 3.

Dolphinfish — Celestwave, daytime

• Water: Ocean, Celestwave (south-west sea). Rarity III.
• Season / hours / weather: all year, 8:00–18:00, any weather.
• Bait: Meat Bait.
• Sell: 119g. Pond oxygen: 3.

Moorish Idol — open ocean, Summer/Autumn

• Water: Ocean (generic). Rarity I.
• Season / hours / weather: Summer, Autumn; 6:00–18:00; sunny or rainy.
• Bait: Bug or Veggie Bait.
• Sell: 75g. Pond oxygen: 1.
• Quest use: second half of the Junior Angler quest (with Tuna). Because it is a generic ocean fish, you can catch it from any coast, including the Luminwave trip you make for the Tuna.

Arapaima — river King, Summer/Autumn

• Water: River. Rarity V (King).
• Season / hours / weather: Summer, Autumn; 12:00–24:00 plus 0:00–2:00; sunny or rainy.
• Bait: Veggie or Meat Bait.
• Sell: 782g. Pond oxygen: 5.

Where do you catch Glowfish in Starsand Island?

Dreamfall Garden in Moonlit Forest — the pool with the waterfall and bubble bridge next to the camp. Pearl Glowfish is there all year; the King only in Autumn from midnight to 2 AM on Bug Bait.

Which Glowfish counts for the Intermediate Angler trial?

Any non-King Glowfish. Pearl Glowfish (all year, any bait) is the practical answer.

Where is the Zander?

Any river on the main island, all year, any hour, any weather, any bait. It is rarity III but has no restrictions.

Where is Tuna?

Luminwave (north sea, by ferry), Spring through Autumn, 8:00–18:00, sunny or rainy, Meat Bait only.
