Youfang Starsand Island: Gifts, Schedule & Friendship

Youfang was sent to the island by his monastery a year before the story and spends his days on practice, herbs and the stars. He carried a “Bond” tag and a 5-heart story during Early Access, which is why he is still listed as romanceable in many older guides — but the developers confirmed in August 2026 that, because of his established backstory, romance interactions are not available for him in 1.0. You can still raise his friendship to five hearts and he still has a gift table.

Daily routine

Mornings he practises in the temple courtyard or by the sea, then studies and tends the herb garden out back. Midday to afternoon he is usually in the main hall. Around dusk he visits Crane Cape to watch the waves or wanders near the ruins; after dark he is back in the courtyard watching the stars. Rainy days keep him inside with old books. Use the Social app on the in-game phone (Locate / Follow) to pin him on the map; routes change with season and weather.

Gifts Youfang loves, likes and hates

You can give each NPC one gift per day. The lists below come from the game’s data export cross-checked against two independent player-tested guides: items marked confirmed appear at the same tier in at least two sources; the rest are listed only in the data export. All of this was verified during Early Access (patches 0.3–0.7) and is being re-checked for 1.0 — if something has changed, use the contact page.

Gift theme: Bamboo in every form — Bamboo, Bamboo Leaf, Bamboo Shoot, Fresh Bamboo Shoot, Hardy Bamboo — plus Gold Ore.

Loved (+15 affection)

Confirmed: Bamboo, Bamboo Leaf, Fresh Bamboo Shoot. Data export only: Bamboo Shoot, Hardy Bamboo, Gold Ore.

Liked (+10)

Confirmed: Moonflower, Glazed Cicada, Chilled Twilight Salad, Smashed Cucumber, Light Blue Hydrangea, Blue Hydrangea, Fenta, Caco Laco, Latiao, Crispy Rice, Garlic, Pasture Grass, Wheat, Green Grape, Water Spinach, Fluffweave, Moondew Shroom, Dragon Fruit, Celeste Berry. The data export lists 226 Liked items in total (most common crops, cooked dishes and flowers).

Disliked (no gain; some sources report a loss)

Sugar painting

After a 2-heart photo together you can take the picture to the sugar-painting stall in town (100 gold) and hand Youfang a “Sugar Painting – Youfang”. Friendship with Youfang

Youfang’s affection works like everyone else’s (five hearts, gifts, conversation, bulletin-board requests) and he still sends thank-you mail, but the 5-heart Move In option is not offered.
