Starsand Island Intermediate Farmer Trial & All Trials

Each of Starsand Island’s five professions — Farming (Graminova), Ranching (Pastelle), Fishing/Angler (Delphin), Crafting (Zerine) and Exploration (Zephyria) — has five ranks: Apprentice, Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Expert. Reaching a rank means finishing that rank’s training quest and then a Trial; certification unlocks shop blueprints, seeds and skills. The most-searched one is the Intermediate Farmer Trial, which is simply “grow a Gmax crop and bring the fragment”. Below is every trial with a usable source; where we found nothing, the cell says not recorded rather than guessing.

Most trial descriptions are Early Access player reports (February–July 2026); the Angler line comes from the profession page data and is the only complete ladder. Version 1.0 changed at least one Senior Angler requirement (see below).

All trials by profession

One Reddit title mentions an “Expert Rider Trial”; we could not read its content and no other source names a Rider profession — Unconfirmed as of August 23, 2026.

Intermediate Farmer Trial (Gmax crop)

Gmax crops are one per season — Spring Pineapple, Summer Watermelon, Autumn Pumpkin, Winter Winter Melon; seeds are 190g at the Happiness Seed Shop from Junior Farmer. Plant nine in a 3×3 block; when the last one ripens the game rolls for a giant. Gmax Fertilizer III/IV/V gives 15%/35%/70%, does not stack, and only one plant (the centre) needs it. Chop the giant with an axe for the giant/golden crop plus a Fragment, which is what you hand in. The trial’s name changes with the season you attempt it (“Intermediate Farmer Trial: It’s Spring” is one Reddit title), and a March 19 patch fixed a progression block in it. Big fields beat single blocks — a 6×6 gives sixteen chances. Details on the farming guide.

Intermediate Rancher Trial (Colorful Wool Blanket)

Coloured wool comes from coloured sheep (Red/Orange/Yellow/Green/Cyan/Blue/Purple), which are bred — mostly randomly — from any two sheep, or obtained early from the Islandpedia Bio Research tier-3 reward (3 orange + 3 blue sheep). The blanket is handed to Serena, whose room requires 3 hearts. The patch that clarified the quest says only one colour of fabric is needed. The accompanying mainline asks for a baby animal, usually a Lop-eared Rabbit, and a Breeding House (Intermediate Rancher, 3,500g) helps target the pairing though free-range breeding also works. Junior Angler Trial and Expert Angler

The Junior Angler training quest is the one people get stuck on: it requires building Starsand Port, riding The Parrot to Luminwave and catching a Tuna and a Moorish Idol (an early patch fixed the required fish being uncatchable). The trial then asks for a boat and a rich fishing ground. Earlier patches also fixed the “Junior Angler Banner trial” repeating and Delphin’s dialogue showing Junior/Senior trials as incomplete. Junior Crafter Trial

No source describes the Junior Crafter trial’s objective — not recorded. What is known is what the certification unlocks: the Worktable II blueprint (200g), Gear Smith (800g) and Quick Shipping Box (2,500g) at Zerine’s General Store. See machines.

”Intermediate Countryside Haven layout” is not a trial

It is one of three 10,000g Intermediate house layouts at Lex Woodworks (Countryside Haven, Modern Retreat, Classic Courtyard); Solara’s starter coupon takes 80% off the first one. It shows up in trial searches only because of the word “Intermediate”. See expand farm and house.

Workpedia skill points

Each profession rank also grants skill points spent in the Workpedia (the skills app). Named skills that sources mention: Hooked on Fate (sea fishing without targeting a shadow), Rare Bites (better daytime rare bites), Victory Siphon (Explorer, doubles treasure-map chests), Beelessings (Intermediate Rancher — returning bees burst-grow crops; maxed it nearly instant-ripens), Earth’s Bounty (Immortal Seed drops) and a mining stamina-refund-per-node skill. The Island Life quest “Jack of All Trades” counts skills unlocked before accepting it (0.2.1014 change). A full skill tree is not in our sources.

What do I need for the Intermediate Farmer Trial?

One Gmax Fragment — grow a 3×3 of the season’s Gmax seed with Gmax Fertilizer on the centre plant, chop the giant, hand in the fragment.

How many King fish for Expert Angler?

Two.

What is the Expert Rancher trial?

Player reports describe breeding a rabbit with several positive traits; exact numbers are not confirmed.

Do trials unlock new items?

Yes — each certification opens the next shop tier (e.g., Senior Crafter → Furnace III and Worktable III, Expert Farmer → Greenhouse manual and Starsand Grinder) and a March 26 patch fixed recipes not unlocking after all trials.
