Starsand Island Quests, Bulletin Board & Professions

Starsand Island does not have a single quest log so much as four overlapping streams. The Island Life phone app is the main story and gates most systems (land, multiplayer, shops); the five professions each run their own ladder of training quests and trials; NPCs hand out side quests, festival quests and, since Version 1.0, 3-heart relationship stories; and the bulletin board at the Community Center posts daily requests that are the fastest affection and early-money source. This page explains each stream, the bulletin mechanics, what “jobs” and “bounty” searches actually refer to, and which quest blockers have been patched.

Numbers for affection and board mechanics are Early Access observations; quest names are taken from the official patch notes and quest data and should still hold in 1.0 unless noted.

Main story: Island Life stages

The Island Life app lists roughly 25 sub-stages in five tiers — Returning Resident → Island Pro → Home Builder → Bright Star → Starsand Legend. Sub-stages are bundles like “meet all mentors”, “complete N bulletin requests”, “reach Junior in any profession” or “build X”. Notable nodes that appear in quest names and player guides:

MilestoneWhat it unlocks / requires
Welcome / tutorialCutting the tree by the cabin, first worktable; achievement “Island Newcomer” (94.8% of players)
Return to the Cabin in the WoodsEarly mainline; completing it is also the condition for claiming the free Chinese New Year DLC quest
Islander Registration (Solara)Early town quest; a March patch fixed a dialogue gap at 3 PM on Wednesdays
Here’s Your Mail (Starnote)Build the Mailbox
Junior TalentAny profession at Junior + 5 bulletin requests + earlier stages → the Buy Land app appears
Building Starsand Station / Cross-Sea BridgeTransport quests (stations, the bridge); several submission bugs were patched in March–June
Starsand Port ConstructionOpens the three seas via The Parrot; also the Junior Angler training requirement
Intermediate TalentReward includes the Hydrangea Scaping Manual
Home Builder → Cloudrest Lake constructionNeeds six land expansions; new home area
Smooth SailingMeet all mentors + help Marston build the Maritime Bureau → multiplayer entrance (unlock bug fixed in 1.08.3916)
Starsand Shop Unlock, Island Life All-Rounder, Jack of All Trades, Trade WhizLate Island Life quests; counting rules were loosened so earlier progress counts

Land prices and the Cloudrest/Blue Beach/Windflute areas are on expand farm and house; multiplayer setup is on the co-op guide.

Bulletin board requests

The board stands at the Community Center in Starsand Town. NPCs post delivery and gathering requests; each completed request pays coins and 15–30 affection with the poster (compare: a Loved gift is 15, chatting about 5 a day, returning a lost item 20, profession quests up to 50). Early Access guides put the daily board income at roughly 1,500–2,000g, with the number of requests you can take per day rising with Island Life stage. Five completed requests are part of the Junior Talent milestone. The Apprentice Angler trial is literally “take the board request New Finny Roommates”.

Posting your own request: at 4 hearts with an NPC you can issue a request to them from the board (an in-game “Request Posting Guidelines” screen explains it; a March patch fixed wrong notices arriving from Zerine after requests to Graminova and Delphin). Exact point thresholds for hearts 4–5 are player-reported only; see the romance guide.

Patched board issues: commission quests not completing (0.2.0780), the “Flour Purchase Commission” being unacceptable (0.5.1822), wrong quantity display in “Seafaring Supplies” (0.5.1822), and the “Urgent Fish Order” being uncompletable (0.3.4631).

”Bounty” and “bounty items”

No official note, data field or player guide we hold describes a bounty board or bounty items in Starsand Island. The searches most likely refer to the bulletin-board requests above (or to a different game’s term). Unconfirmed as of August 23, 2026 — if a bounty system exists in 1.0, it is not documented in our sources.

Profession quests (“jobs”)

“Jobs” in search results means the five professions: Farming (mentor Graminova), Ranching (Pastelle), Fishing/Angler (Delphin), Crafting (Zerine) and Exploration (Zephyria, sometimes “Adventurer” in quest names). Each runs Apprentice → Junior → Intermediate → Senior → Expert with a training quest and a trial per rank; mentors invite you by letter in the first summer (Delphin on Summer 3, Pastelle on Summer 4). Certification unlocks the next shop tier and Workpedia skill points. The full ladder, rank by rank, is on the trials guide. Achievements track it: “Jack of One Trade”, “Jack of All Trades” (Junior in all), “Grandmaster” and “Master of All Trades” (12.5% of players).

NPC, festival and crossover quests

  • Heart quests — 3 hearts opens bedrooms and, in 1.0, a next-day letter or a visit to a familiar place starts a 3-Heart Relationship Story; 5 hearts triggers the voiced Invitation scene. See romance.
  • Festival questlines — Beach Festival prep (Momo, Delphin, Sylvain…), Spring Festival prep (Solara’s square, Aurelis’s Clam Soup, Alex’s lanterns), Pumpkin Festival (1.0). See festivals.
  • Crossover visitors — “Visitor from Portia” and “Visitor from Sandrock” (Gust, Ginger, Fang, Nia); their mail arrives after Autumn Day 1 and several duplicate-mail and double-cutscene bugs were fixed in March.
  • Named side quests from the patch notes: The Mysterious Treasure of the Exploration Club, The Lost Makeup, Silly Melon, Natural Furniture (Lex Woodworks), Zerine’s Parts Quest, Bruce’s Big Big Wish and Special Diet, Super Royal Jelly (for Solara), Taste of Memories, Retrieve the Shiny Paint, Lunelle’s sewing kit.
  • Multiplayer note (1.0): guests can work on profession quests and requests together, but some quests depend on which island they are being completed on, so guests may have to return home to finish.

Quest troubleshooting (what has been patched)

If a quest looks stuck, check whether it matches one of these official fixes — if you are on an older console build the fix may not have reached you yet:

  • Mail: using “Read All” could stop enclosed quests from triggering (fixed 0.6.6510); crossover mail duplicated (0.3.3595).
  • Storage counting: Winter Melons in chests not recognised for Silly Melon (0.5.3429); Dimensional Box items counted twice (0.3.3595); placed Cat Beds and upgraded Golden Bows now count without retrieval (0.3.2537).
  • Moonlit Forest side-effects: Spring Festival quests re-accepted, Beach Festival checkmarks lost, Get Balloons Together not turnable-in, Apprentice Explorer showing timeout — all after entering/sleeping in the forest (0.5.1822–0.5.3429).
  • Profession lines: Intermediate Farmer reappearing when accepting Senior Farmer (0.4.9467); Expert Farmer not triggering after Senior (0.3.3595); Junior Angler fish uncatchable and guidance missing (0.2.0909–0.3.2537); Senior Rancher white horse returning (0.5.3429); Apprentice Adventurer stone door (0.6.6510); recipes not unlocking after all trials (0.3.5809); Pufferfish count in Become a Senior Angler! (1.08.3916).
  • NPC availability: Serena staying indoors for days (0.3.4631), Alex missing in summer schedules (0.6.6510), turn-in NPC wrong (0.2.1185).
  • Stations: Building Starsand Station not submittable / duplicated workers / stations not on map (0.3.2537–0.4.7483); quest items discarded and re-picked breaking completion (0.6.3838).
  • Beach Festival 1.0: stalls and the race not appearing is widely reported and not yet listed as fixed.

General advice from players: sleep a night, leave and re-enter the area, check the mailbox rather than “Read All”, and make sure turn-in items are in your bag, not a chest. Full version history is on updates and patch notes.

How do I unlock the bulletin board?

It is available from the early Island Life stages at the Community Center; requests scale with your progress.

What does a bulletin request give?

Coins (roughly 1,500–2,000g a day in Early Access) and 15–30 affection with the posting NPC.

What are “jobs” in Starsand Island?

The five professions — Farmer, Rancher, Angler, Crafter, Explorer — each with five ranks.

Is there a bounty board?

Not that any source confirms; the term most likely means bulletin-board requests.
